Thonet, S 60 and S 61
Glen Oliver Low, 2000

S 60 is an innovative chair range in the Thonet tradition. The tubular steel cantilever chair design has been closely associated with the Thonet company since the 1930s. With the S 60 range, Glen Oliver Low has succeeded in reinterpreting the cantilever and developing a contemporary solution. The moulded plywood shell is connected to the tubular steel frame via the armrests. It adapts to the user´s anatomy while offering a high level of comfort thanks to a soft spring effect. The chairs of this range are available in two basic versions: the S 60 with the seat/back made of veneered moulded plywood in stained beech or alternatively with a walnut, oak or maple veneer, and the S 60 V with a fully padded over back. Both versions can be supplied with backrests in two differing heights as well as in a stackable design. The covers come in two  leather types and in various different fabric qualities and colours.
